Resolute

Well, I am proud to say that I took on a number of challenging New Year's Resolutions this year, and so far things are going pretty good. I won't bore you with the details, suffice to say most are focused on staying healthy.

HOWEVER, clearly "Blog Regularly" got lost on the list...

So, I obsequiously apologize to my readership (or what is left of you) and ask for your patience and renewed interest in the lives of the San Diego Sandwisches.

OK, with that out of the way, I'll kick-off this comeback with some pictures from our recent trip to the beach. We have been doing a bit of tidal pool hunting lately, seeing all kinds of cool stuff. It's a great activity in the winter, when you can't actually swim but still want to smell the ocean, and feel the sand in your toes.

The kids love it, something about running on the sand and the noise of the waves always seems to rile them into a new level of hyperness. Katie is very brave and curious and sticks her finger in about 1,000 sea anemones giggling and squealing as they squish and squirt. She is definitely my little nature loving prodigy. She really focuses in on the things we find and has the demeanor of a passionate scientist.

Andy is mostly focus on the sand-mud-balls he can make, as well as splashing. He runs in the water an manages to wipe out in the water pretty much every single time we go. He is brave too, but in a very different way.

So far we have seen a school of dolphins, some mega sized star-fish, some crabs, hermit crabs, lots of shells and rocks, and a few fishes. With 100 miles of coastline on our doorstep, I'd like to start going to different beaches as much as possible. These photos are of Scripps, which is basically the closest to our house, and about a 10 minutes door to door trip.

Can you bottle up some of that beach smell and send it our way?
