Catching Up

Catching up on a post here.

At the turn of the year, we were lucky enough to celebrate a second Christmas with Dick and Kari. They came out with a bundle of goodies, and also with the intent of being here for Jen's birthday. It was a big week. My sister and mom also came down for a very special day where we had Katie and Andy Baptised. It was really great to have so much family here for this very special event.

We finished the week off with a night out for Jen and I at the local Omni hotel (which is downtown on the water, across from the new Padre Stadium.) Thanks Dick and Kari for babysitting for us! We had a blast at the new Hard Rock hotel, and ran into some old old friends of mine.

Before we left for the night, the kids were having a hard time with us leaving. Expecially Katie, who was in tears over it all. In order to make her feel better, I taught her how to use the speed dial on the phone to call my cell whenever she wanted to talk. Well of course now she calls me almost everyday, asking me to come home from work early... for example today:

rrrrrrring...

Me: Hello?

Katie: Daddy? I's me, Katie.

Me: Hi Katie, how are you doing?

Katie: Ummm, good. When are you coming home?

Me: Soon honey, I just have some more work to do.

Katie: OK, I want you to come home early so we can play some of my games.

Me: OK Katie. When do you want me to come home?

Katie: Ummm, how about 30?

Me: 30 Minutes?

Katie: No... 30 o'clock... (pause), I mean 10 o'clock

Me: I hope I get home before then! I am leaving soon, I'll probably be home within an hour...

Katie: OK good, that's when I was expecting you.

Does that hurt?

One of the big things I have noticed this year is how much older I feel, just kinda slower, not as fit, etc etc. Sure sure I have plans to start exercising more, like we all do around this time of year. But let me tell you, nothing makes you realize how much your body has changed (from when you were young) like coming home from work, walking in the door, and seeing this...

Katie has been going to gymnastics and this is what she learned on the first day. I am terrified to see what they teach her next!
